Motion ended up buying my US Bearings branch and shutting it down. Took a long time, but they finally withdrew the invoice. Whatever the weird part number was it didn't come up in their system and they couldn't produce a slip where anyone had signed for it. Took the invoice down there and asked them what it was. It was a couple thousand bucks and I couldn't remember ordering anything significant from them recently. Sidebar story, I got an invoice from Motion one time that just had a strange part number and no description. There was a Motion branch in town, but they were just really hard to work with and when I did have to use them their invoicing was always screwed up. I had worked with one of the guys there for years. Bearings branch was really good and my supplier of choice. I assume they survive by selling stuff to lazy purchasing agents in big plants. Sky high prices complemented by a sales staff that knows nothing about anything they're selling. But they're a couple orders of magnitude better than Applied Industrial. Motion's branch here in town is passable, but not great by any means. How about another kicker to make motion's price even more ridiculous? Genuine Parts, a corporation based in Atlanta, owns both Motion Industries and NAPA.
